Visually inspecting the spark plug (“reading the plug”) on occasion is a mandatory part of maintenance for this 2 cycle engine.
- A dry, white, grayish looking spark plug is an indicator that the piston is on the verge of seizing.
- A “wet”, dark looking plug shows that there is adequate lubrication.
It is highly recommended that you only replace your spark plug with the same type provided by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). If this is impossible, the NGK B5HS spark plug may be used.
